Faerie Market

Once upon a time there was a market in Faerie. In this market you could find almost anything, from keys to glitter to scraps of fabric fashioned into bits and bobs. Then there were the jewels, the broaches that could only have come from the highest royalty's clothes, and sometimes, if you were lucky you could find an item of true magic.

That market faded away with the changes of the tides of time, and I was sad to see it go...
Missing it has spurred something new in me though; the possibility of creating a new market, one made of magic and whimsy. One that you could get the shiny bits of Faerie even in the mortal world.

I'm sure that I have enough baubles that I could easily start this market all on my own, from beaded bits to glass, to keys that I rescued from abuse in Faerie. It's going to be an interesting start, and I really really hope that all of my friends will take a gander and pass the magic on when it starts up!

With Love,
Rubiee

Busy!

Well, let me tell you that life isn't slowing down at all!

From gigs to work to kickstarter and back. Crazy days have come and gone and I hope that they're winding down... knowing full well that they most likely are not.

This weekend Pandora Celtica heads to Beltania. This is where I will be... camping. Imagine it with me now, this Pooka... camping. I'm not going to fib, I'm kind of worried about it. I don't so much do camping, I haven't in the past because I don't consider anything but sleeping in a tent to be camping. I've been sewing, broke out my new serger and everything. I thought that maybe I was crazy yesterday- see, I'm making coats... and then the rain started, and I saw the forecast for this coming weekend. More rain. So! I refuse to be a wet Pooka. Coats it is!

Gearing up for Scarborough too... and then there's the Kickstarter.

So, I officially have so much tea to make that my head is threatening to spin right off my neck. I am sooo grateful for the people that have offered to help keep me sane. You all are so amazing!

And the band's kickstarter... I'm hoping that's going to go up... tomorrow? Don't hold me to it though :)

Time to run!

Choices

In the last post, you found me at the brink of realization. I ran with that realization... right into a wall. Which I scaled, and found the other side full of... choices.

The past month has been so very full of choices it isn't even funny. I have made many of those choices gladly, and some I have made begrudgingly. Regardless, the choices have been made and I can not and will not look back. ....Growth can really suck sometimes.

But then! I reach the other side of these choices, and look at the vast field between where I am and where I might want to one day be- and let me tell you, it is breathtaking.

I have started a new business venture. Inspired by three things, my once best friend and forever sister, my love of tea, and my band. This was one of those choices that I made that I wasn't fully aware of the.... path it would take me along.

But, I am there. No use looking backwards.

There is a Kickstarter to start the project off right. And after the Kickstarter you will be able to find the teas at Pandora Celtica shows. I am very excited about this.

Tomorrow...

Dear readers,

This time tomorrow I will be in Texas. Not only am I blessed with the ability to visit my very best friends but I'm getting a visit from the tooth fairy. Apparently once in the mortal realm one must abide by mortal rules... this means dentists. I think I prefer to call them tooth fairies.

I am not looking forward to that part.

Well.. maybe I am. I like knowing my teeth are shiny so you don't all come up to me and stare at them. (You're going to do that anyway, not that you've read this, aren't you? *sigh*) Anyway! While I am in the great land of Texas, I will be drinking tea, searching for trinket shops to add awesomeness to my collections... and possibly writing. I'm bring my spinning along too.

I promise photos, because blogs are always so much more interesting with photos.

Pooka Post: Homecoming

Today, just a bit of writing:
-----------------------------------------------
Shadow Grove was beautiful as always. The weather was gorgeous and the trees in the area shaded my cottage from the sun, making the day even nicer. Shadow Grove was home, no matter where Mab's whims sent me I could always return to Faerie and to the home of my heart.

I looked down to the roses that lined the front wall of the cottage, they were every color imaginable and dappled with the spots of sunlight that escaped from the leaves of the trees overhead. Some of the roses had come from the mortal realms and others yet came from Faerie itself. The trees around the cottage whispered in the breeze and I tilted my head back to listen to their song.

"You're home!" I heard his cheerful cry before he threw himself at me. I had to laugh as I gathered the canine creature into my arms. He looked like a mortal dog, a terrier to be exact. In truth neither of us knew what he really was.

"I've missed you too, Tobias." I scratched behind his ears and let him back down to the ground. I would joke how much of a mutt he was, we sometimes would sit in the gardens and try to figure out exactly what mix of fae was in his blood. It was our game.

He guarded Shadow Grove while I was away and he was my best friend no matter what court politics were underfoot.

"I see the roses are all in bloom." I commented and he padded over to inspect them.

"They weren't yesterday, they must have known you were coming back." His words made me get that happy warm feeling that so many mortals would talk about, I laughed.

"Must be. Come on, let's go inside... I have so many things to tell you about my adventures this time." As I walked towards the door of the cottage I couldn't help but whisper a word of thanks to anyone that would listen.

I was home.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just a smattering of the life of a Pooka Fae when not in the mortal realms. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it!

!!!

Dear Blog:

I finished 50,000 words in 26 days, validated it and everything. I would like you to know that I managed for the first time in about 12 years to win NaNoWriMo.

Me. This Pooka. I won.
See???? They even gave me a nifty badge thingie!

I'm really excited that I actually won, and ahead of schedule. Mind you, my story might be half done, if I'm lucky... So I still have a lot more to write (and I'm working on it too!).

On top of that I'm going through and editing MORE of the novel that I started for NaNo 2007, and didn't finish until '08 or '09.

Maybe, just maybe both of these will some day go to beta readers. (fingers crossed here)

Q&A

So some time ago I posed the request on facebook: Ask me questions that I can answer in a q&a here on blogger.

They answered the request, oh yes they did! So here it is: Your first Q&A blog post!

Grygori: I wanted you to tell us from your perspective what it means to be Pooka.  Give us your view on their characteristics physical/personality/supernatural, etc.  We've read some out of books, but now give us a personal account. :D
What it means to be a Pooka? Well, I know that a lot of the Myths say that all Pooka are shape shifters, or that they are horses with orange eyes and blah, blah, blah. They are said to be mysterious tricksters. Me? I must be a rarity. Yeah, I suppose I could change forms if I really really wanted to... But why waste the energy? I'm a friendly, energetic, flirty individual that loves to sing and dance (the second one only usually when no one is watching).

Also from Grygori: What do you look for in the male of the species?
Ah... I'm blushing here. You really really want to know this? Uhm... Well... I look for a male that is friendly, strong in personality, has a sense of humor, can handle my erratic schedule and crazy personality. A male that has their life well in focus.... Uhm... Yes.

Siren: What was your first experience with Pandora Celtica?
My very first experience with Pandora Celtica was actually long before I knew what I was hearing. A friend of mine took me to a Witches' Ball around Halloween one year. I heard Pandora Celtica and fell in love enough to purchase a CD and ask the band to sign it. Fast forward many years where I got ready to audition... and realized that I knew of the band!

Joseph S: Why do dogs have wet noses?
Dogs have wet noses because they have to have something to nudge you with to make you realize they're there. Otherwise how would you know to give them scritches???

William K: How did it feel when you joined PC and how long do you see yourself in the group?
It felt amazing to join Pandora Celtica. My new family opened me with open arms and since then I have had some of the most amazing experiences of my life. I see myself in the group for as long as they'll have me.

William K: Do you see yourself making it big with your jewelry or with PC?
I see myself making it big with Pandora Celtica. Jewelry is more of a relaxing fun thing for me, I much prefer to just create when it strikes me.

John H: What...is the air speed velocity of an unladen faerie?
Irish or Scottish? What's their wing pattern and magic of choice? :)

All of the following are from Miss Leora:
What is your favorite mischief to cause?
Glitter bombing. Though, I'm a huge fan of dumping glitter into the shoes of visiting Courtiers... Mind you that Mab is NEVER amused by that.

3.) What is your favorite Pandora Celtica memory?
I've had a few of them and most of them involve me crying happy tears. Dragon*Con last year was a huge one... DarkCon was an amazing event within D*Con and I still hold very fond memories of that game.

4.) Out of all the songs the band performs, which one do you like performing most?
One that we haven't recorded yet? :) Okay, Okay... Out of the ones that we have... Either Smuggler's Song or.... Bedlam Boys. I think. Though to be honest, I really really really love singing 99.9% of all of our songs.

5.) Where do you find your inspiration for your glasswork?
The sun, the moon, the breeze... Everything and anything. Most recently it's been the glass itself. I was just able to start playing with this AMAZING glass called Clio. It's shiny and has some of the most amazing properties...

6.) Why do you like keys so much?
Have you SEEN them???? I mean... Well... Okay so in Faerie keys are a bit different... but that's another post entirely. I love keys because for me they symbolize freedom.

7.) In you opinion, what is the grossest thing in the world?
Yams. Yams and roadkill and... other gross stuff.

8.) If you could change one thing about society, what would it be and why?
How closed minded people are. I can't even explain how much it honks me off that people as a whole can be such closed minded bigots.

9.) What is your favorite part about being a faerie?
I get to play!! It's fun to talk to people and make friends and it's just so much fun! That and the fact that the Mortal world is so... different than Faerie. So I get to discover new things about the Mortal world on a daily basis!

So here it was! My very FIRST Q&A ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you all for coming to read, and if you have questions that you want added to the next Q&A please feel free to send them to rubiee.tallyn@gmail.com

Shiny!

Here I am again! The days have been filled with rehearsals (Heavens I missed my companions!) and lots of time making shiny things.

I finished covering my corset in crystals. Any guesses on how many it took to finish?
It’s a lot, I will tell you that!!!! And I am really really looking forward to crystal encrusting a few more corsets in my future. What can I say? It’s like glitter… only it doesn’t rub off on everyone else!!!
Also, the amazing Satyr-Dancing ShadowCat has a blog!!!!
You should go and read it and look at his art, I think you’ll all enjoy it!

A New Overview

Well here I am again, trying to figure out where I left off and where I should pick back up.

If you are new to my blog, then welcome!! My name is Rubiee and I’m… well I’m many things.
I’m a musician in Pandora Celtica, I’m a Pooka, I’m obsessed with keys and glitter both. I create stuff…. and I like shiny things!
And sometimes? I post video blogs.

This blog is usually full of randomness but I had some… issues when I tried to update the software (this Pooka isn’t very good at stuff like that). So I lost everything that I had previously written. From Dragon Con posts to The Witches’ Ball and everything else. I’m sure in time I will write a lot more about gigs, my friends and fellow bandies and everything that is the life of Rubiee.
And I leave you with a video of one of the songs from Pagan Pride Day!
